The MukanLube Rail Lubrication System is designed to reduce wear occurring on the contact surface between the wheel flange and the rail gauge face, especially along the outer rail of small-radius curves. Wear on rails and wheel flanges increases operational cost, risk of derailment, noise, and maintenance frequency. MukanLube provides an electronically controlled, automatic lubrication solution that reduces:

  • Rail and wheel flange wear by 60–80%
  • Curve squeal noise by up to 15 dB.
  • The system operates fully automatically after installation and requires almost no adjustment during operation.
Rail Lubrication System Components
System Components

The system consists of three main units:

Control Cabinet
  • Houses the lubricant tank, electromechanical pump, microcontroller, electronics, and battery.
  • IP65-rated enclosure; internal microcontroller board with IP67 protection.
  • Tank capacity options: 6 L, 8 L, 10 L, or 20 L (common version: 20 L).
  • Compatible grease: NLGI #00 – #2.
Power System
  • Solar panel: 60W/24V (or 90W/24V in some configurations).
  • Designed for continuous operation even in cloudy weather.
  • Rail-mounted lubrication plates installed without drilling the rail.
  • Typically two units, each with 6 grease outlets.
  • Adjustable cantilever sensor detects each passing wheel and triggers lubrication pulses.
Operating Principle
  • The inductive sensor detects the wheel passing over the curved rail section.
  • It sends pulses to the microcontroller, which activates the pump.
  • The pump delivers grease from the tank to the lubricator plates.
  • Grease passes through the plate openings directly onto the rail gauge face.
  • Wheel rolling spreads the lubricant uniformly along the curve.

The system adjusts lubrication dose based on:

  • Train frequency
  • Speed
  • Environmental conditions.
